Xavier De Kestelier will take us on a journey through some of the world’s most extreme environments—from the shifting glaciers of Switzerland and the refugee settlements of Uganda to the uncharted terrain of the Shackleton Crater on the Moon. Though wildly different in context, these places share a common challenge: they demand a first-principles approach to design. In each case, Xavier explores how architecture must not only adapt to extreme conditions, but also lead with sustainability—embracing regenerative design strategies that turn constraints into opportunities for innovation.

Budapest is historical city, most of the downtown was buildt during the XIX and XX. century, but at the same time it is post socialist city. This two layer of the city fabric are overlapping and defining together the contemporary image of Budapest. Working in such context always challengeing for the architect, who is interrested in to deal with contemporary architecture. Wheter it is about new buildings in old settings, or reconstructions, adaptive reuse, the question is not about the „what” rather about the „how”. I present some of our finished projects regarding this context.
